This event was co-organized by Chinese Society for Hydropower engineering (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hydropower.org.cn\/\" target=\"_blank\">CSHE<\/a>) and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.hhu.edu.cn\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hohai University<\/a>, supported by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.sungrowpower.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Energy and development are important topics for all the human-beings around the world. In 2015 the United Nations issued 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG17), in which the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/energy\/\" target=\"_blank\">No. 7 is related to energy<\/a>: &#8220;Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all&#8221;. With this goal as the central topic, the WFEF 2016 aims to ensure the availability of future energy, and provide a platform for leaders and experts from various regions around the globe to share their opinions and solutions about energy issues.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5395.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5395.jpg\" alt=\"Prof. Ruomei Li\" title=\"Prof. Ruomei Li\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11786\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nProf. Ruomei Li<\/p>\n<p>This forum invited famous experts from China and from around the world to analyze problems and propose solutions in terms of technology, environment, society and economy. This forum is chaired by Prof. Ruomei Li from China Society for Electrical Engineering (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csee.org.cn\/en-ww\" target=\"_blank\">CSEE<\/a>) National member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/council\/\" target=\"_blank\">WFEO Executive Council<\/a> and Vice Chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/stc_energy\/\" target=\"_blank\">WFEO Committee on Energy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5406.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5406.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Marlene Kanga\" title=\"Dr. Marlene Kanga\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11791\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nDr. Marlene Kanga<\/p>\n<p>The distinguished guests include WFEO President Elect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/president_elect\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ms. Marlene Kanga<\/a>, Prof. Daniel Favrat from the Ecole Polytechnique F\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epfl.ch\/index.en.html\" target=\"_blank\">EPFL<\/a>) and Vice Chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/stc_energy\/\" target=\"_blank\">WFEO Committee on Energy<\/a>, photovoltaic expert and  Chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/stc_energy\/\" target=\"_blank\">WFEO Committee on Information and Communication<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/stc_information-and-communication-president\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Satyanarayansinh Rathore<\/a> from India, and Chinese Academy of Engineering (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.cae.cn\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">CAE<\/a>) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (<a href=\"https:\/\/english.cas.cn\/\" target=\"_blank\">CAS<\/a>) academicians Mr. Xiao-Xin Zhou, Yi Jiang and Wei-Jiang Chen and other experts from China.<\/p>\n<p>This forum was mainly focused on :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>renewable and clean energy,<\/li>\n<li>future energy prospects, <\/li>\n<li>energy efficiency,<\/li>\n<li>energy supply for rural and impoverished areas,<\/li>\n<li>energy storage,<\/li>\n<li>energy strategy and policy,<\/li>\n<li>impact of energy development on environment,<\/li>\n<li>smart energy and smart grids,<\/li>\n<li>energy internet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This forum also paid special attention to technologies contributing to sustainable development and energy cooperation strategies, and energy situation of developing countries (with China as the example).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5413.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5413.jpg\" alt=\"Prof. Gao Feng from Tsinghua University\" title=\"Prof. Gao Feng from Tsinghua University\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11840\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nProf. Gao Feng from Tsinghua University<\/p>\n<p>WFEO President Elect Ms. Marlene Kanga, Director of EIRI, Tsinghua University, Mr Feng Gao and Mr. Bo-Ting Zhang, deputy Secretary General of CSHE made their introductory speeches.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5414.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5414.jpg\" alt=\"Mr. Reginald Vachon\" title=\"Mr. Reginald Vachon\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11795\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMr. Reginald Vachon<\/p>\n<p>The first section of presentations was chaired by Mr. Reginald Vachon. The first presentation was done by Mr. Martin Manuhwa from Zimbabwe, president of the Federation of Southern African Engineering Organizations and Chair of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/stc_anticorruption\/\" target=\"_blank\">WFEO Committee on Anti Corruption<\/a>. His presentation topic was <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/themes\/wfeo\/images\/pdf.png\" alt=\"Achieving Sustainable Energy Delivery in Developing Countries-Energy Security and Climate Stewardship Roadmap for Zimbabwe\" title=\"Achieving Sustainable Energy Delivery in Developing Countries-Energy Security and Climate Stewardship Roadmap for Zimbabwe\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\">&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/stc-energy\/Achieving_Sustainable_Energy_Delivery_by_Martin_Manuwha.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Achieving Sustainable Energy Delivery in Developing Countries-Energy Security and Climate Stewardship Roadmap for Zimbabwe&#8221;<\/a>. He highlighted the facts that international and local funding must be mobilized to develop green energy, and that financial deals must be coupled with Technology Transfer, Research Engineering, Design &#038; Development through Multi-sector Private Public Partnerships (PPPs).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5422.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5422.jpg\" alt=\"Mr. Martin Manuhwa\" title=\"Mr. Martin Manuhwa\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11797\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMr. Martin Manuhwa<\/p>\n<p>Next speech was done by Prof. Daniel Favrat from EPFL, Switzerland, on <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/themes\/wfeo\/images\/pdf.png\" alt=\"Advanced integrated systems and design methods for improved energy efficiency\" title=\"Advanced integrated systems and design methods for improved energy efficiency\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\">&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/stc-energy\/Advanced_Integrated_Systems_and_Design_by_Daniel_Favrat.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Advanced integrated systems and design methods for improved energy efficiency&#8221;<\/a>, he analyzed the design and operation issues of the advanced energy system in terms of theoretical and practical aspects, considering that key energy saving approaches includes better indicators (energy efficiency), better design methods and technologies: heat pumps, fuel cells, co- and tri-generation, and better integration between electric and gas grids with storage. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5388.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5388.jpg\" alt=\"Prof. Yi Jiang from Hohai University\" title=\"Prof. Yi Jiang from Hohai University\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11837\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nProf. Yi Jiang from Hohai University<\/p>\n<p>Then CAE academician Prof. Yi Jiang from Tsinghua University made his presentation on &#8220;the construction of ecological urban and rural energy system&#8221;, and introduced combined heat and power generation, consumption of new energy, and also presented how to construct an energy-saving system based on the typical conditions in rural areas, giving the audience an inspiring lesson.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5407.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5407.jpg\" alt=\"World Future Energy Forum (WFEF) 2016 successfully held in Beijing\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11799\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The famous economist Mr. Yu-Shi Mao spoke about &#8220;the social, economic, and technological condition for exploring renewable energy in developing countries&#8221;, analyzing the factors influencing the development of renewable energies from the perspective of sociology and economy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Yu-Shi_MAO.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Yu-Shi_MAO.jpg\" alt=\"Mr. Yu-Shi Mao\" title=\"Mr. Yu-Shi Mao\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11851\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMr. Yu-Shi Mao<\/p>\n<p>Then our guest from India, Mr. Satyanarayansinh Rathore made his presentation titled <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/themes\/wfeo\/images\/pdf.png\" alt=\"Canal top solar power plant: an innovative initiative\" title=\"Canal top solar power plant: an innovative initiative\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\">&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/stc-energy\/Canal_Top_Solar_Power_Plant_by_S_Rathore.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Canal top solar power plant: an innovative initiative&#8221;<\/a>, he introduced the technology used in such plants and the situation of these engineering projects, and the achieved economic, social and environmental benefits of this project. The first presentation <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/themes\/wfeo\/images\/pdf.png\" alt=\"Energy Situation in Africa - Opportunities and Challenge\" title=\"Energy Situation in Africa - Opportunities and Challenge\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\">&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/stc-energy\/Energy_situation_in_Africa_by_Mustafa_Shehu.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Energy Situation in Africa &#8211; Opportunities and Challenge&#8221;<\/a> was done by Mr. Mustafa B. Shehu from Nigeria: it mainly concerned the energy status in Africa, energy potential, and problems encountered in technological, financial and law aspects. He pointed out that Africa should make better use of energy projects from various organizations, including UN, WEC.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5429.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5429.jpg\" alt=\"Mr. Mustafa B. Shehu\" title=\"Mr. Mustafa B. Shehu\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11802\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMr. Mustafa B. Shehu<\/p>\n<p>The next presentation was done by Prof. Hong-Bin Sun; he mainly introduced the concept of Energy Internet and the prospects.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5420.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5420.jpg\" alt=\"Prof. Hong-Bin Sun from Tsinghua University\" title=\"Prof. Hong-Bin Sun from Tsinghua University\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11844\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nProf. Hong-Bin Sun from Tsinghua University<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Peter Greenwood from Australia made a speech on <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/themes\/wfeo\/images\/pdf.png\" alt=\"Nuclear power what can we learn from Australia ?\" title=\"Nuclear power what can we learn from Australia ?\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\">&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/stc-energy\/Nuclear_Power_What_can_we_learn_from_Australia_by_Peter_Greenwood.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Nuclear power what can we learn from Australia ?&#8221;<\/a>, and introduced the opinion of Australia on nuclear issues. He stressed the fact that nuclear energy is a practical solution for achieving green energy and that nuclear power, as a low-carbon energy source like renewable technologies, may be required as part of a lower-carbon electricity system.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5430.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5430.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Peter Greenwood\" title=\"Dr. Peter Greenwood\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11803\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nDr. Peter Greenwood<\/p>\n<p>The last speech was carried out by materials scientist Prof. Lu Qi from Peking University, on &#8220;Energy storage with li-ion batteries, constructing the future of household photovoltaic power generation and energy consumption&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5432.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5432.jpg\" alt=\"Prof. Lu Qi from Peking University\" title=\"Prof. Lu Qi from Peking University\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11848\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nProf. Lu Qi from Peking University<\/p>\n<p>He introduced the mini power plant consisting of photovoltaic devices and high performance Li-ion batteries, which can solve a lot of practical problems for herdsmen and peasants on grasslands. The battery pack in the system can also be flexibly used for achieving even more diversified functionalities, and this presentation received very good response.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/wfef1.png\" alt=\"World Future Energy Forum (WFEF) 2016 successfully held in Beijing\" width=\"660\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11728\" \/><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nAfter presentations, WFEO President Elect Ms. Marlene Kanga made the concluding remarks. She believes that engineering can make a better world, not just for us, but also for our future generations. &#8220;Therefore we engineers are obliged to investigate green and renewable paths for future energy&#8221;, and she also expressed her gratitude for those attending the forum.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Ruomei Li expressed her hopes that everyone present in the forum can benefit.
