\nThe WFEO Committee for Women in Engineering (WIE) joined the world community in collaboration with UNESCO to celebrate the 2018 International Women\u2019s Day in Paris, France.<\/p>\n

The high point of the event which was held on March 9, 2018, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris was the commemoration of the 10th year anniversary of the Committee and the presentation of awards to WFEO past Presidents who contributed immensely to the creation and sustainability of the Committee and the Committee’s past Chairs and Secretary.

\nThe programme which was well attended by members had panel discussion with distinguished professionals presenting various issues on Women in Engineering and Engineering Communities. The Members resolved to intensify efforts towards increasing the number of the girl child participation in Engineering education.

\nOn the front burner was the issue of how Women in Engineering can improve the life of the rural women and girls with regards to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The platform was further used to highlight the various success stories on the roles played so far, by women in engineering in helping the vulnerable, mainly, women and girls, and how more can be done to improve their livelihood in troubled countries.
\nThe Programme had a large community of UNESCO and WFEO family with students from three schools within Paris.<\/p>\n

On the eve of this event, on March 8th, WFEO delegates were invited by Mil\u00e8ne Guermont, engineer and artist, representative of our French member to the WiE committee, to admire the PYRAMIDION installed in the Egyptian blue heart of the Town Hall of the 13th arr. of Paris, and to illuminate this new pyramid born in Paris at their own heartbeat rhythm.<\/p>\n
