Registration is open<\/a><\/strong> for the third offering of the massive open online course (MOOC) Sustainability in Practice<\/strong>, which is available for free. This self-paced course starts October 16<\/strong> and must be completed by December 13<\/strong>. The last day of registration for this offering is November 12<\/strong>. It requires about 8 hours to complete at your own pace and has quizzes and a final exam to evaluate learning outcomes.<\/p>\n

This course is a joint project between Engineers Canada (EC)<\/a> and Polytechnique Montr\u00e9al<\/a>. It shows real case studies illustrating practical applications of the 10 guidelines contained in Engineers Canada\u2019s National guideline on sustainable development and environmental stewardship for professional engineers<\/a> (2016), which is the Canadian adoption of the WFEO Code of Practice for Sustainable Development and Environmental Stewardship<\/a> (the Interpretive Guide is available here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

This course suggests tools for engineers to apply these guidelines in their professional practice.<\/p>\n

Over 3,200 participants from 58 countries registered for the first two deliveries of the free course in the fall of 2018 and spring 2019. The course is delivered over four modules in both English<\/a> and French<\/a> and requires about 8 hours to complete. It includes quizzes and a final exam to confirm learning outcomes.<\/p>\n

WFEO encourages all its members to actively promote the course to their engineers to encourage their professional development in this very important area of professional practice. Following the WFEO Code of Practice contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

La p\u00e9riode d\u2019inscription<\/a><\/strong> \u00e0 la troisi\u00e8me \u00e9dition du cours gratuit L\u2019ing\u00e9nierie durable<\/i> s\u2019est ouverte le 9 septembre<\/strong>. Ce cours, con\u00e7u pour \u00eatre suivi \u00e0 son propre rythme, commence le 16 octobre<\/strong> et doit \u00eatre compl\u00e9t\u00e9 au plus tard le 13 d\u00e9cembre<\/strong>. Le dernier jour pour s\u2019y inscrire est le 12 novembre. Il faut compter environ 8 heures pour suivre \u00e0 son propre rythme l\u2019ensemble du cours, qui comprend des tests et un examen final. <\/p>\n

Ce cours est un projet conjoint d’Ing\u00e9nieurs Canada<\/a> et de Polytechnique Montr\u00e9al<\/a>. Il propose des \u00e9tudes de cas r\u00e9elles visant \u00e0 illustrer l\u2019application des 10 directives du Guide national sur le d\u00e9veloppement durable et la g\u00e9rance environnementale \u00e0 l\u2019intention des ing\u00e9nieurs<\/a> (2016) qui est l’adoption, par le Canada, du code de pratique international en mati\u00e8re de d\u00e9veloppement durable et de g\u00e9rance environnementale, le Code de pratique internationale en mati\u00e8re de d\u00e9veloppement durable et de g\u00e9rance environnementale de la FMOI<\/a> (le guide d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation en anglais est accessible ici<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Le cours propose aux ing\u00e9nieurs des outils pour mettre en application les directives du guide dans leur pratique professionnelle.<\/p>\n

Plus de 3 200 participants de 58 pays se sont inscrits aux deux premi\u00e8res \u00e9ditions de ce cours gratuit offertes \u00e0 l\u2019automne 2018 et au printemps 2019. Suivre le Code de pratique de la WFEO contribue aux Objectifs de D\u00e9veloppement Durable des Nations Unies.<\/strong><\/p>\n
