featured a successful plenary session on engineering education which was hosted by the World Federation of Engineering Organisations.<\/p>\n<p>The session was held on 21 November 2019 at the Melbourne Convention Centre and was called: \u201cWorld Engineering Education &#8211; the paradigm shift to engineer the future\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The session was moderated by Dr Marlene Kanga, WFEO President.<\/p>\n<p>UNESCO participated via Dr Peggy Oti-Boateng, Director Capacity Building Section, Natural Sciences Sector, UNESCO, who provided a brief message by video on the commitment to work with WFEO and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieagreements.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">International Engineering Alliance (IEA)<\/a> and other international engineering partners to review the global attributes for engineering education to ensure that they meet the future needs of society for sustainable development and to build capacity for more engineers with the right skills where they are needed most, in Asia, Latin America and Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers in the session included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mr. Kang Jincheng, Strategic Specialist, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.cae.cn\/en\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icee-unesco.org\/unesco\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">International Centre for Engineering Education (ICEE)<\/a> Tsinghua University on the research being undertaken on the future of Engineering Education;<\/li>\n<li>Mr. Damien Owens, Chair Governing Group of International Engineering Alliance, President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enaee.eu\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE)<\/a>, Registrar Engineers Ireland;<\/li>\n<li>Prof <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/gong_ke\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Gong Ke<\/a>, President Elect WFEO, Former President Nankai University, China;<\/li>\n<li>Prof. Dr Michael Auer, Immediate Past President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifees.net\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES)<\/a> , Vice-Rector and Professor of Electrical Engineering at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, Villach, and Professor for Microelectronics at University of Klagenfurt, Austria;<\/li>\n<li>Em Prof. Elizabeth Taylor AO, Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieagreements.org\/accords\/washington\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Accord, International Engineering Alliance<\/a>, Former Chair Engineers Australia Accreditation Board, Australia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/declarations\/UNESCO_IEA_WFEO_Declaration_Global_Engg_Education.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The Declaration<\/a> between WFEO, UNESCO and International Engineering Alliance on need to work together for internationally recognised engineering education standards and capacity building in engineering education, was signed
