\nThe Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)<\/a> in collaboration with the Engineers Board of Kenya<\/a> organised it annual conference between 24 and 27 November 2020 in Mombasa. The event was supported by UNESCO<\/a>, the World Federation of Engineering Organisations and the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The theme of the conference is \u201cEngineering a Post-COVID-19 Future: Implementing sustainable regional and local development agendas taking into account global best practices\u201d. The conference has seven sub-themes:<\/p>\n

  1. Engineering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/li>\n
  2. Big Four Agenda and Vision 2030.<\/li>\n
  3. Smart Cities and Intelligent Infrastructure.<\/li>\n
  4. Development of National, County, and Regional Value Chains.<\/li>\n
  5. 4th Industrial Revolution and Industry 4.0<\/li>\n
  6. Academia, Research, and Development.<\/li>\n
  7. Climate Change Resilience.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    WFEO Executive Board members<\/a> presented key note addresses including Immediate Past President Dr Marlene Kanga<\/a>, President Elect Prof. Jose Vieira<\/a> and Executive Vice President Eng. Mustafa Shehu<\/a>.

    The Conference was a hybrid event with in-person and online attendances and presentations. A highlight of the event was the launch of the Engineers Card in collaboration with the National Bank of Kenya and Visa and which will assist in identifying engineers.<\/p>\n

    The Third Women Engineers Summit was also held as part of the event, with the theme \u201cLeveraging Opportunities for women Engineers\u201d.
    \nWFEO Immediate Past president Dr Marlene Kanga spoke at the opening session.<\/p>\n
