The 41st Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 41) was held from 20 to 23 November 2023 at the International Convention Center in Bali, Indonesia.<\/p>\n

The idea of attending the Conference organized by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO)<\/a> was brought forward to me by WFEO Past President Dr. Dato Lee Yee Cheong on my visit to Malaysia in August 2023.<\/p>\n

The AFEO is made up of mainly engineering Institutions from the following countries: <\/p>\n

  1. Singapore,<\/li>\n
  2. Malaysia,<\/li>\n
  3. Philippines,<\/li>\n
  4. Burma (Myanmar),<\/li>\n
  5. Indonesia,<\/li>\n
  6. Cambodia,<\/li>\n
  7. Thailand,<\/li>\n
  8. Vietnam,<\/li>\n
  9. Laos, and<\/li>\n
  10. Brunei Darussalam.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \nI used the opportunity I had in addressing the Conference to invite representatives from the five engineering institutions from Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Brunei to join WFEO. I had one-on-one discussions with representatives from these countries and exchanged contacts with them. As WFEO President-Elect     Seng Chuan Tan<\/a> could not attend the Conference because of other prior engagement he had, I therefore forwarded the contacts of those I met from these five countries for his subsequent follow-up. <\/p>\n

    My attendance was successful as in addition to the fruitful discussions I had with the representatives from those five countries, I was well received by the delegates and was able to meet and have photo with former President of Indonesia, Her Excellency Megawati Sukarnoptri, the Minister of Economic Affairs of Indonesia, Ir. Airlangga Hartarto as well as Dr. Lydia Tansinsin, the 2019 recipient of the WFEO Gree Women in Engineering<\/a> Award among other important delegates.
