This was based on a proposal from the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO).<\/p>\n<p>WED is an opportunity to celebrate engineering and the contribution of the world\u2019s engineers for a better, more sustainable world. It was celebrated for its fifth time in March 2025 as an international celebration promoting the critical role of engineers and engineering to achieve a better and more sustainable world.<\/p>\n<p>From the 2025 edition, WFEO partners with <a href=\"https:\/\/stjamess.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">St James House<\/a> to run a global campaign bringing industrial partners and all kinds of innovators to join the celebration and effectively demonstrate the great range of how engineers contribute to delivering each of the United Nations SDGs. <\/p>\n<p>WFEO and St James House co-operate <a href=\"https:\/\/worldengineeringday.net\/\">worldengineeringday.net<\/a>, a global hub for featuring local and global events, key messages, institutional, academic and corporate testimonies. <\/p>\n<p>+50 companies have partnered with the 2025 celebration. <a href=\"https:\/\/worldengineeringday.net\/partner-stories\/\" target=\"_blank\">Visit this page<\/a> to find out more.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme was <i>\u201cShaping a Sustainable Future Through Engineering\u201d<\/i> and the main event was celebrated in Paris on March 4, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>You can see <a href=\"https:\/\/unesdoc.unesco.org\/ark:\/48223\/pf0000392963\" target=\"_blank\">in this page<\/a> the message from Ms Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO.<\/p>\n<h3>World Engineering Day main event<\/h3>\n<p>The Conference, titled <i>\u201cUnleashing the Power of Engineers to advance the SDGs\u201d<\/i>, took place at UNESCO headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>A live stream of the day\u2019s flagship event, featuring all the day\u2019s main events, news, and debates can be viewed on the below video<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7Uwy3OClf0Q?feature=oembed&#038;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; This year, the challenges were based on UN Sustainable Development Goal 1: No Poverty and winners were revealed during the main event.<\/p>\n<p>The WED judges have selected the top three winners (page available <a href=\"https:\/\/worldengineeringday.net\/hackathon\/\" target=\"_blank\">in this link<\/a>), while the public vote crowned a fan-favorite. With over 3,000 participants from 90+ countries, the competition showcased bold solutions to poverty, from climate-smart innovations to digital empowerment.
